Supervisor
MMH Malta Ltd is currently seeking a Supervisor to join the Technical Services Function. The candidate shall be responsible to determine work standards that are not specified by the owners Client or by classification societies; ensure that all standard operating procedures comply with specifications, quality standards, statutory and regulatory requirements; appoint approved sub-contractors in consultation with the Project Coordinator; ensure that records of work done are passed on to the Administration Function and the Project Coordinator, for their follow-up actions; ensure good housekeeping within the facilities and work areas; track and report daily work progress to the Project Coordinator; respond to customer complaints and take corrective and preventive actions on errors done by the staff, sub-contractors and suppliers so as to meet the requirements defined in the Quality Policy; support the company’s succession grooming and planning initiatives; manage the section to ensure that the repair, conversion and construction jobs defined in the Specifications and for which the section is responsible for, is carried out in accordance to the budget and schedule set by the Project Coordinator.
The candidate needs to have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine and Offshore Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motorship), or its equivalent. In the absence of any of the certifications, the candidate needs to have undergone a traineeship within the marine industry.
The candidate is required to have at least 6 years of relevant work experience, or at least 4 years of supervisory experience in a related industry.
Furthermore, the candidate is required to have strong supervisory and communication skills, as well as, experience in industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, precision alignment, balancing, welding, manual machine shop, part prototyping, fabrication, mechanical repairs techniques, procedure writing, project planning and execution, documentation, and excellent computing skills. The ideal candidate is required to have knowledge of and experience with commercial and military marine/ship standards and specifications and industrial fluid power systems and extensive practical experiences relating to pipefitting, hydraulics, and air controls. Industrial electrical experience will be considered an asset however it’s not a requirement.
The working hours are usually from Monday to Friday. The candidate might be required to work day shifts or night shifts and during the weekend and public holidays.
