Well Control Level 2, or Well Control Level 3
The course is designed for anyone who is expected to shut-in a well, such as Drillers and Assistant Drillers.
Simulator exercises are a key part of this course and are used to reinforce the underpinning understanding of well control. These exercises are in addition to training for the Practical Assessment. It includes detailed training for kick detection, well control equipment, shutting-in the well, monitoring parameters and the Driller’s role in subsequent well control operations.
To pass the assessment and obtain a certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum mark of 70% in each section of the examination.
Candidates undertaking a Level 3 course will also undergo a practical assessment. Assessment is usually conducted in pairs of a driller level candidate and a supervisor level candidate.
Each candidate is required to complete two written test papers which include multiple choice questions and Kill Sheet calculations.
